The award empowers young people to take responsibility and lead. They choose their own music, create their own visuals, learn about how nutrition and exercise affect the body and finally narrate the journey in front of their peers. This gives massive boosts to self esteem and their own personal health.
The SportCAT leadership is a QCA level 2 accredited cross curricular learning programme. Each student gets a professional high quality leadership pack which can be personalised, contains video clips, work and task sheets, detailed powerpoint presentations and a log book to keep track of progress. Teachers are provided with detailed teachers guides, lesson planners and top tip summaries for each section. We also provide on-site teacher training at each of our SportCAT leadership schools to ensure high rates of success. The award supports different learning styles needs - (VAK, visual, audio and Kinesthetic)
The students are actively engaged while leading the classes. Focus and attention benefit, as a result, during and after sessions. The students are empowered with decision making (minimal teacher guidance required) which encourages each pupil to take responsibility for their own learning. It has been hugely successful in getting buy in from both students and teachers and delivers rewards and results.
